Doctor Game

I found this to be a treat to watch as my girls invented the Doctor game.  Two people get twisted up like so,

While the doctor steps aside.

The two twisted call out, "Doctor, doctor!" In which she replies: "Yes?" And then she solves their problem by getting them unstuck. Novel isn't it?

When the problem is solved, you raise your hands in the air and shout, "You did it!" Game over.

Pure joy watching it.

Rubix Cube Solver Robot

Lego Mindstorms People. Building a robot to solve a rubix cube takes skill.  Mat attempted it and we were all awe struck. It was like watching a fire. And yes, it certainly did do it, after we got fresh batteries.

St. George Happenings

Ran down to St. George for a tidbit.  I had a few family things going on and Mat had to work. A perfect opportunity to say see ya to life.  Here are some things to do if you're around the area.

Run up the cinder cone (ancient volcano long ago near Diamond Valley turnoff)

Cinder cone descent

When you get to the top, pose and wave to my Aunt's house down below and all the family and friends gathered there for my cousin's farewell dinner.

Atop the Cinder Cone

Dine at the Bit and Spur in Springdale.  It was a beautiful night.  The kind that makes you take a deep breath and thank the Lord that you're alive to feel it. Inhale. Exhale.

We were with a dandy group of people and enjoyed a wonderful meal served by Alicia, an old classmate of mine that I haven't seen for over 15 years. That truly made my night, I loved her.

Food reccomendation: Get the Polenta! Loved it!

Check out the Tonaquint park.  I've strolled by this before, but now they have shades up and bench swings----it's really delightful.  Take some ice something because St. George is warming up.

I'm trying to do a dashing, CRAZY pose with niece Ellie, but it turned out to be more of a "Presenting.... pose." I will work on that.

Tonaquint Park

And, of course there there is plenty of rock climbing to humble you.

Baby Animals

I went to a field trip with Gretchen's class last Tuesday and there were a lot of baby animals at This is the Place Monument.  I asked the guy if they needed help feeding them and he said, "Sure! 12:30 and 4:30." I took him up on his offer a few days later because I thought it would be a great opportunity for my kids to get some animal action.  The eldest two in our home don't know how we would take care of animals nor would we want to, but the youngers beg, like I'm sure most of your households do.

Here are the baby lambs.  Mat was a sheep herder for a summer and he was always telling me to feed the baby lambs if I ever had the chance.  Yes, it was thrilling.  You have to hold on tight to that bottle.

As a bonus we got to hold the baby chicks and go for a pony ride. Thank you This is The Place.

My new Delight

My new go to snack when I'm in the mood for something sweet

1 Tbsp peanut butter (crunchy for me)
1Tbsp honey
1/2 c Greek yogurt

mix it all together and enjoy.  Throw some apples in there and if you want to get real crazy add a pinch of cinnamon. you can can catch me eating it, well, now and sometimes after dinner to replace my void of ice cream:)

Trust me. I made it up--but the internet is large--so maybe someone beat me to it, but it is tasty and hits the spot.

All moved in And Settled

By now, I consider ourselves expert movers.  You people in the ongoing training careers know what I'm talking about:) You clean out, pack early, and label, label, label. Moving day, you unpack and get to it until your boxes are empty.

The move went smooth thanks to a lot of extra hands.  They hauled our boxes, set up beds, put away food in my pantry, kids were entertained, and in no time, we were resuming life as normal by the next day.  I find it fascinating how quick and efficient the turnover can be.  I've been shopping like a mad woman for essentials for the extra bathrooms and bedrooms. Eeegad, it can add up, but I keep having self talks and deep breath moments to carry me through.  And, I hate shopping. I've decided that it is exhausting and I'm not sure this is the best rug out there. I have better luck shopping when it's not forced.  I will post pictures soon with remodel plans.   Mat says at least 2yrs and I am quickly placing myself in a seat belt until then.  I'm such a product person and I already know mostly my vision of where I want the house to go that I'd like to do this remodel, eh, tomorrow. Patience. Patience. Patience. I'm going to need strength.

Bouldering Now

I'm sure we will try every outdoor sport imaginable being married to this guy! I'm okay with that, it allows for plenty of adventure.

That my friends is a bouldering pad which allows you to do lower rock climbing puzzles without ropes.  You work horizontally instead of vertically when you climb.  It does become interesting because you try to move across the rock in the least amount of moves. Did I lose you? Snore?

Tree House Museum Reccommendation

For Spring break I took my kids to the Tree House Museum in Ogden.  May I say it is one of the best little museums to have your children lose themselves in.  Ogden kind of has a bad wrap, but this little downtown area is sure spruced up and fun to walk around.  I have a few crappy Iphone pictures-- but I would say to give this place a try.

PS When I'm in these museums I secretly wish my soon to be basement was organized into all these little themes (castle, blocks, hospital, house, barn).  What a wonderland that would be for my kids! I would just need to hire the workers to follow behind them to keep the toys all nice and compartmentalized.

Oh So Familiar, May It Be The Last Time

1 week from today we'll be into our new house.  Our space will fortunately quadrupole in size and unfortunately so will our kid's messes. Of course, I've got it all under control since March! I've purged and purged and purged and my kids have asked where is this? and where is that? Denial. Denial. Denial. Shoulder shrug. There can only be one winner in the moving games and that shall be me. Book group was even held Thursday night at my house in boxes because I couldn't STAND the thought of packing last minute.   I figure the ladies would not remember it in 10 yrs either.

Wish us energy.

Please drop me a note if you would like to stop by for dinner. I will be in the entertaining and hosting business again.

Happy Easter!

Remember your mom making these?  I thought I would attempt it and now I am a pancake making rock star! I'm sure I'll have to make my pancakes like this from now on, oh the trouble we mothers get ourselves into!

Pinewood Derby Testosterone

Becket's first ever pinewood derby.  We had several pep talks about not winning, but losing graciously and it worked fortunately--wasn't too confident in that department.

Nothing like a little graphite on the nose!

And here are the real engineers! (minus that lady)

I think they had the most fun building it together. Thanks for coming Grandpa Bob!

Favorite Kid Books As of Late

This little book tickled the old funny bone. It was a fun one to read aloud to my kids and I think the author has a few more I need to check out.

The Dumb Bunnies Easter

We have also enjoyed Chester Cat books by Melanie Watt

She is also the author of Scaredy Squirrel.

Mo Willems will always be a favorite too! Don't let the Pigeon Stay up Late and the Elephant and Piggie series.
