Oh Peas!

Micah has always reminded me of Ralphie's little brother Randy in a Christmas Story when she eats at the dinner table.

Mat's trip to Haiti Canceled

Mat's trip got canceled to Haiti due to riots and protests against their government.  Our church deemed it unsafe to send him there, so he got a whole week off.  What does one do with a whole week off?

Make a lamp of course.

Our contractor accidentally broke our other one, so here's to a sleeker design.

He also had the chance to ride his motorcycle.  Any chance. He got.

Rev and Seth put this little memorial cover on the bike as a tribute to his dad Dan

I ran around and did my usual stuff, groceries, car repairs, more groceries..... of course I took my little buddy and he found lots of BIG friends to play with.

Mat and I were able to have lunch towards the end of the week. Back to normal Monday!

Favorite Things

Here are some things I have been enjoying lately.

Creamy goodness sent from heaven.

Untitled

Not only prepares your face for your next chemical peel, but it also tightens it up in between.  Must wear sunscreen with it (which I need to do better about)

Untitled

A hip scent I aquired for my birthday a year ago.

Untitled

And long lasting Loreal lipstick.  I put it on once a day and usually lasts until dinner.

Untitled

Not a favorite for Mat anyway would be bananas.  My kids take the liberty of being an advocate for the bananas.

And still a favorite! And always will be.

Winter and Resolutions

Winter is here.  I kind of liked Becket's perspective on his snowman.  He told me he wanted him to look up into the sky to watch for the sun to melt him.

Untitled

I made a paper chain for our thirty day challenge.  Mat and I are trying to kick the habit of our sugar sweets, while the kids are trying to go without Nutella for 30 days (I also promised them we would make muddy buddies since we didn't make them over the holidays.)

Untitled

They were mad that I put, just for a day.

Becket and Gretchen are starting to learn the guitar.  I figure Mat could help them with any questions and they could jam together.

Untitled

They are also learning how to ski.  Their first ski lesson was last Saturday.  I was a little nervous when I saw the class didn't exceed the age of 6.  Becket was a little nervous too! The instructor informed me that they advance at their level, so they weren't going to be stuck on orange level forever.

After the ski process of the lift ticket, skis, instructors, we found ourselves outside getting some fresh air before the class started.

Foo and the Do

It is crazy how this little dog can go from fluff

Untitled

To rag-a-muffin

Scary! I know--Micah had every right to cry. You wouldn't recognize him if he didn't have his tongue out.

He does fluff back up and all is well.  He has been enjoying his state of the art modern doghouse.

He also has discovered digging.

He also serves as a better alarm for the kids in the morning.  They wake up so much happier then when I used to wake them up.

Private Animal Museum

I took the activity day girls to this private animal museum.Yes, this man has his own museum.  He hunts all around the world and when I say all around the world I mean top of the Himalayas, Antarctica with ice breaking boats and the villages in Africa killing alligators.  Blair's dad is an avid hunter and he said if this guy has this rare horned sheep that cost $100K to hunt then he is legit.  Well, he not only had one of these rare cork screw horned sheep, but two.

In the picture, this is only the top floor of this dust-free museum, he's got a whole bottom floor led by a grand staircase.

I've got the hook up if anyone needs one, they are happy to share their experiences with scouts or activity days.

Runnin' to catch the sun

We made a quick run to catch some sun in St. George, but we had a hard time staying warm down there because temperatures were just as chilly as Salt Lake.

The kids could play for hours on the red hill.  We went twice this trip.

We found a secret little papusa station in the basement of a church.  Oh my, yes and please.  We were so hungry and the spinach and cheese pupusa hit the spot.

Untitled

Untitled

We did go bowling jamming to loud heavy metal and disco lights.

Untitled

Micah didn't get the notice that you just leave your ball on rack, she felt she had to hold it the entire time. I doubt it was a germ thing.

Untitled

We also had the chance to visit Mat's grandparents.  Grandma Elaine just got out of the hospital with serious pneumonia.  Luckily, she is doing much better now and continues to mend.

Untitled

We also made a stop to Grandpa Harris's house.  He's a funny old bird and loves to chat.  Wish we had all day to listen to his stories, but we did have a 3hr drive ahead of us.

After Christmas Activities

We took Master Foo to his first Vet appointment. It was hilarious to hear the clinician announce "Master Foo" in the waiting room.

The kids and Mat worked on the Lego Death Star for several days and then they decided to watch all star wars videos while they set up the scenes in their own Death Star.

We went to the Leonardo Body Worlds museum. The girls thought it was creepy and scary, but I guarantee they will not forget about it. We did get a slight parking ticket but it was forgiven because we paid for the wrong stall.

Foo got a bath and Micah ended up crying because he looked so scary.  She went into the other room until he was dried. She was afraid that he would never rebound back to his poofiness.

Good sledding times with my friend Emily.

Back to School

The kids are headed back to school today, so I thought I would just throw some pictures up to recap our winter adventures.  We did try to make the most of it and in my mind, we succeeded.

Christmas lights in Draper Park, games and puzzles with Grandma Rexine, and low gas prices! $1.87 now.

Our Christmas morning surprise was hidden upstairs in our room (our new dog) while Mat told the kids he was working on a birdhouse in the garage (i.e. dog house)

While he was working on said "birdhouse" I was working with these guys to sneak in his long awaited motorcycle into the lab. I told them it was okay to lie a little so Mat could be absolutely thrills and squeals when he stumbled upon it.

I was able to catch Mat on tape discovering the motorcycle. It was perfect because my brother was going to borrow a cooler and so I started rolling the camera because I knew he was going to walk right into happiness.

And then the kids got the surprise of their life! Master Foo appeared and he has changed their lives forever.

He's been very scrumptious ever since and we have to take time outs because the kids want to hold him all the time.

His eyes are hard to catch because he is so dark around the face, but he's cute when you can catch them.

We wrapped up with a lovely Christmas dinner of crab legs and roast.  It was nice to have my family together, Bob, Andrea, Brian, Casey, and my mom. Goldilocks says just right.
